The Starlight Children’s Foundation needed Protogen’s expertise in implementing system integration and data management support.
The Challenge
Starlight did not have in-house capabilities for managing their foundations systems including CRM. Starlight’s previous IT provider had been unsatisfactory so Protogen was tasked with addressing the outstanding issues within the existing system. The challenge was to keep the engine running with no system support, while keeping the lights on and hitting the ground running.
The Solution
Initially, a quick system analysis and assessment was required in order to gain an understanding of the various components within Starlight’s system.
Next, an intelligent monitoring system was employed to create a full inventory list of Starlight’s system. This was undertaken to understand the topology of their network, in regards to how the systems talk, how frequently are to comprehend what the data loads and critical system were. This information then allowed our solution agents to then critically define what requirements were needed for SLA and how this often it served users. (need to clarify SLA terminology with Omer).
Once mapping was complete, Protogen began monitoring (on an ongoing basis) the operational aspects of the systems, reporting any irregularities in the system which provided the ability to be reactive to any system issues.
At Starlight we managed three major data areas;
- Financial System
- Starlight’s CRM System; which included substantial lists of all donors, corporate clients etc. In regards to the CRM the financial system- we focused on optimising the data layer.
- SharePoint Installation- serving their Intranet linked to Starlight’s back office. The Sharepoint system is used for business administration including: document management, reporting and strategic planning.
Protogen not only managed end- to-end data solutions, but also queried and monitored how the system was optimized.
Furthermore, Protogen provided analysis of how Starlight users interacted with the new systems and put in place measures to make sure the system’s operation and response rate were operating at peak performance.
