CBS is a marketing company that specialises in mystery shoppers and surveys. Protogen was tasked by CBS to build a data model to support Coles mystery shopping investigations. CBS’s existing portal was capturing all collected data but this was not supported by data insights and analytics capabilities.
The Challenge
Protogen's solution involved building a data warehouse to process the existing and new data. We then built structured reports for every part of Coles including Coles Express and Kmart businesses (around 600 stores in total). Reports had been distributed previously but only in a manual format with non-accurate numbers. Protogen rebuilt these formal structured reports as templates and then generated those thousands of reports against the data warehouse in a high quality, multi-dimensional fashion at store, regional, state and Australia wide levels.
The Solution
Coles used this information with Wesfarmers to work out which stores held the biggest opportunities for improvement and used semi-quantifiable insights to calculate how much these improvements make on return. CBS ran this high sophisticated platform independently, until later down the line when it was taken over for internal use for Coles.
