Queensland Health’s device and asset management arm, ‘Biomedical Technology Services’ (BTS) utilise a centralised web application called ECRI-AIMS to manage their asset data. BTS’ objective for the Asset Management project was a rapid development and mobile deployment of a new Asset Management, Service Ticket and Safety Testing software platform for their engineers.

The Challenge

BTS required a solution to manage inventory, service tickets and testing data from medical devices across Queensland into the asset management system. (Their Server platform did not support this, as it was only web based).

The Solution

The solution was for Protogen to build ‘BioMedAssist’ a tailor built application. BiomediAssist would assist in the gathering of offsite data pertaining to the preventative maintenance and safety testing of biomedical devices within BTS. BioMedAssist is still currently used by BTS to capture safety-testing data in the field, which is uploaded by the safety technician into the AIMS database via a server side component built by Protogen. The entire field force (over 320 users) of BTS has now been using this application over the last two years and the platform currently manages over 325,000 pieces of equipment.
